Are shoes making you and your feet dumb?

Shoes.  We probably all wear them. Some more than others.

Mitts? Probably not. Now imagine if you did all day everyday. Big thick ones that prevent you being able to use your fingers. What do you think will happen to them when you took them off to play on your smart phone?  You would probably find that they had atrophied in strength and dexterity.  Your wrists too.

Yet that is what a lot of us are doing with our feet. Don’t believe me? What if I offered you a foot massage right now? You would jump at it. Well if your feet were healthy enough to do so.

And with a large percentage of sensory cells in the foot and ankle as well as a significant proportion of the brain devoted to the feet it is probably definitely a good idea to spend some part of your day sans shoes. It will make you and your feet smarter and healthier too.
